Overview

GKE(Google Kubernetes Engine)은 두가지 클러스터 유형을 제공하며, 클러스터를 생성후에는 유형을 변경할 수 없습니다.

Autopilot : 관리형 클러스터 서비스로 Autopliot 모드를 사용하여 생성된 클러스터는 node 관리를 사용자가 아닌 Autopilot에서 대신 처리해줍니다. 즉 control plane과 data plane을 Autopilot을 통해 GKE를 완전 관리형 서비스로 사용할 수 있는 서비스입니다. 또한, Standard와 다르게 과금 방식이 node(인스턴스)가 아닌 pod(CPU와 메모리)의 사용량으로 가격정책이 적용됩니다.
Standard : Kubernetes에 대해 경험이 있고 data plane을 관리한 경험이 있다면, Standard mode가 좋은 선택이될 수 있으며, 고급 구성에 대하여 유연성을 제공합니다. Standard 클러스터 유형은 Autopilot와는 다르게 node(인스턴스)에 대한 가격정책이 적용됩니다. 또한, 사용 가능한 클러스터 유형에는 Zonal(single or multiple) 및 Regional 유형을 추가로 제공합니다.
